SHA is, like MD5 (rougly) based on MD4. MD5 is broken. It was inevitable for SHA to be broken too. Having that said, I hope that next hash function ain’t gonna be based on MD5. Just let Bruce Shneier make the new hash instead of Ron Rivest and we’re all gonna sleep tight for a while. Doubts? Anyone broke Blowfish or Twofish? No. Make your own conclusions.
